My name is Shailesh Sharma, and I'm committed to serve communities which lacks access to a proper primary health care. I want to play an active role in making health systems of this country more accessible, affordable and acceptable to community at large. I believe without a proper availability of basic health services to our citizens we can never make a shining India. In my medical graduation days in B J Medical College, Ahmedabad, I experienced the health systems problems of over crowding, cut practices, over prescription of diagnostics and drugs our country faces presently. The plight of poor in waiting areas of hospital premises, delay in treatment, lack of access to basic health services in far flung areas motivated me to understand these problems in more detail. Tata Institute of Social Science was a life changing moment where I completed my MPH in Health Policy, Economics and Finance. The institute gave me opportunities to work in slums of Mumbai, areas of Melghat, Planning Commission of India. Through the two year journey I was able to know more about myself and the health systems problems India faces today. Today, I considered myself to be on the path which is a long one to realize but sooner or later it will come true!! If you share my vision, I urge you to connect with me and help make it happen! Together, we can make a meaningful difference-- for our families, our communities, and our country.
