Valéry Ridde from the University of Montreal has been posting extensively on health systems research on his Twitter account, sharing scientific articles, blog posts, comments, etc. and engaging stakeholders in an on-going reflection on access to health care, human resources for health, health system financing, and universal health coverage in LMICs. He also posts on relevant research methods to evaluate complex policies and interventions aiming at understanding better health systems. Last, but not least, he also posts in French, which is rare in our field, and should be promoted given the fact that there are around 25 French speaking countries in Africa, where an increasing proportion of research on health systems is conducted.

Valéry Ridde's commitment to tweeting relevant and timely research and other information is commendable. Not only does he share his own work, but he is active in sharing work of his students, collaborators, and peers. Valéry’s twitter stream also contains a wealth of knowledge from outside the scientific literature, and as he tweets at the crossroads of the interests of researchers, practitioners and public policy and decision-makers. Valéry Ridde is a boundary spanner – bridging Francophone and Anglophone scientific and practice communities, working to reach across geographical, cultural and jurisdictional borders between the global North and South, and participating in exchanges that engage multiple disciplines. He uses this approach for dissemination not only within his own field of health systems research but for public health research and practice at large.

I'm really glad to see such support for Valery. His account is one of my three not so secret go tos every morning to get the low down on health systems - he *does* always find papers before anyone else! Valery does a great job of articulating the take home messages from research to create a consistent narrative around user fees, health workers, and the inclusion of developing country researchers among other themes. He's my top pick for this award!

Un hombre muy inteligente, interesante y critico hacias los diferentes sistemas y organizaciones, pero lo mas importante es que tiene un corazon y una humildad inmesamente grande, un "don" que debe ser utilizado y admirado por sus colegas atravez del mundo .
