Dr Corine is an exemplary leader and researcher. She has tirelessly worked for a Malaria Free Rwanda and the region for the past years. She has conceptualized various initiatives and followed-up their implementations to nearly eradicate it . Lessons she and her team learnt were used to adapt and have more efficients solutions. She had ensured that eradication plans were documented and dissiminated to evey corner of the country. Her success stories were shared with the region and with her colleagues over the world. Among her successes , our leadership has won several prizes on sustainable malaria eradication . Morbidity rate has reduced tremendously as malaria was one the key cause of kids (0-5) and pregnant women 's death. Today's evey rwandan sleeps under a mosquito net and knows its importance. Stagnant water around houses, swamps are fought by communities to keep their home free from malaria and this was elaborated under her leadership together with her team and our visionary leadership. She deserved to be recognised for her outstanding performance and achievements and highly on behalf of our Rwanda. GO Dr Corine K, you make Rwanda Proud!!!! The sky is the limit.

Dr Karema is an outsanding leader in the fight against malaria in Africa; by using social media platforms to share her country's success stories such as a reduction in malaria incidence by 81% between 2005-2015 and death caused by malaria by 74% in the same period, which ultimately led to better health and economic growth, we can only hope that this will have a learning impact on many countries and thus go for a better global world. Kudos Dr Karema and keep inspiring the world

Keep up the hard work Corine, we're all really proud of you!

Dr. Corine Karema has worked her way up to amazing leadership of the malaria division. From a brilliant medical student in University of Rwanda to a stellar public servant, she has always been working towards being a strong asset to Rwanda. Under her leadership of the malaria division, Rwanda has reduced malaria-related morbidity through a holistic approach of sustainable and scalable interventions of community education, easy access to preventive measures, early diagnosis, rapid testing, and control measures involving local communities. She is now relentlessly working on a Rwanda-free malaria through plans for sustainable and investment solutions for Malaria control, especially in endemic regions bordering countries that have less proactive malaria prevention measures.
As a global health activist, Dr Karema has also been diligent in sharing Malaria lessons learned in Rwanda with other colleagues or mentees from Rwanda and other countries. She is a strong competent woman, my Sh-Hero, and an inspiration to Rwandans, to Africa, and to the world.

As a malariologist and the manager for Rwanda's National Malaria Control Program, Corine very easily could be "too busy" with critical program priorities and needs. However, Corine makes the time and effort to connect with the broader world via social media, to share Rwanda's lessons learned in tackling malaria, and to show us how Rwanda is making progress in eliminating malaria deaths by 2018 - a true malaria hero.
