2015-10-15 10:48Dr Corine Karema, has been an exemplary leader, researcher and had since her childhood been a bright girl, very smart, always the first in her class from primary school. she has developped research skills to provide evidence for all malaria control interventions in Rwanda and most of the time ahead of WHO guidelines to implement what has proven to reduce malaria in Rwanda and used as a model for other african countries! She deserve this award and many more as she has led malaria control in Africa, a rare senior NMCP manager as her friend Dr Simon Kunene from Swaziland. currently she is studying the determinants of malaria increase and shown how substandards mosquito nets were responsible of recent malaria increase, the incriminated brand of substandard mosquito nets were then removed from WHO list of approved mosquito nets! she is an hero and deserve this award.
