Florence Naluyimba is a Senior Health, Science and Environmental Reporter
with NTV Uganda, the leading TV station under Nation Media Group in
Kenya. She also produces a weekly segmented feature called Health Focus.
She has been a journalist for almost 5 years now.
She has covered Infectious diseases like HIV extensively from vaccine
research, trials and social life, same goes for TB and malaria. For these she
got an international reporting grant from the International Centre For
Journalists. She has serialized malaria and raised more awareness about the disease which most Ugandans disregard as ‘just a fever’ yet it is the country’s top killer.
Florence has gone to the local communities and in different countries with o=good practices which can help Uganda also embark on eliminatiom of this deadly infection.

She has equally covered sexual and reproductive health issues with
emphasis on maternal and child health, population and development and she
has 3 awards for best journalist for 3 consecutive years from UNFPA and
Uganda’s Population Secretariat.
Florence also covers NCDs and neglected tropical diseases like Nodding
Syndrome.
She has also reported on the environment widely. She endeavors to interlink
the science, health and environment fields. For her dedication to and wealth
of experience to the health sector she has been selected to be on the
Advocacy Advisory Group, a 15 member team of a USAID project run by
PATH The Advocacy for Better Health and malaria is on the agenda.
The Ministry of Health selected her to be on the Expert Committee for
Research, Information and Advocacy of East Central and Southern Africa
Health Community, ECSAHC representing health journalists from Uganda and she was the only journalist given an award for expansive reporting on the health sector in 2014.
Florence graduated with a First Class Honors, Bachelor of Arts Degree in
Communication and French from Makerere University and she’s currently pursuing MSc Population and Development at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
