Hi! My name is Erlyn (Lyn) Macarayan, a Filipino currently taking my PhD at the University of Queensland, Australia. As a researcher, I work on assessing health systems in many low and middle income countries. Through this research, I hope I can contribute in facilitating cross-country learning so that we can still deliver the best possible healthcare despite our limited resources. As a health activist and an emerging voice for global health, I strongly advocate for health equity and universal health coverage - simply means that "all of us deserve proper care and that no one should ever die without seeing a doctor!" I understand how powerful social media is and I hope that the many little ways that I and my organizations do in sharing significant health findings all over the world can help inform the way we think about our healthcare. Thanks for all the nominations and endorsements! Rest assured that I'll definitely be working hard to be the voice of health not only for the many Filipinos who are disadvantaged in accessing proper healthcare but also for the many others all across the world who may never had the chance to see a doctor. She has been working extensively in strengthening health system capacities across low and middle income countries not only through research and her involvement in various professional, community and international organizations, but also through a great use of social media. She has used all these exposures well to increase knowledge and skills in health and help translate her research findings into policies and practices. Other than all these, she has been invited to speak in many lectures not only in the Philippines and Australia but also in Africa. She has been presenting in many health conferences and is as well doing research visits in top universities across Europe and the USA to facilitate transfer of health knowledge and skills to many resource-challenged settings.
