Hedieh is an MPH candidate at the Boston University School of Public Health, where she specialises in Global Health. Her interests lie in health system strengthening in the Middle East to address the rising tide of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), especially cancer. Given the lack of advocacy for public health and #NCDs in the region, Hedieh has been channeling her efforts through social media and blog posts on Global Health Middle East to draw attention to the various health system issues.

Her focus on the need for health systems strengthening in the Gulf and Iran in order to improve prevention and response to NCDs represents an important and unique perspective on a topic and region that both do not receive enough attention in global health discourse. I've been equally impressed by her social media presence and have learned a lot from her about NCDs and health systems strengthening in the Middle East, a region I am admittedly not very familiar with. She is dedicated to advocate for those who are less privileged and in need of a solid health care system; her trip to Malawi to raise awareness and help in the Oncology unit to attain resources supports this.
